Hello music freunde
I have no problems with reading the German language but writing it is very difficult for me so I have to do it in English (also bad lol).
Well let me try to introduce myself.
My real name is Jan Haneveer i'm 58 years old and live in Tilburg The Netherlands.
I'm the oldest one in the family of 11 children and we are a very musical family.
My father played the accordion and also the mouth organ.
My youngest brother is a solo artist and is well known in these parts, and has had numerous hits.
I have a cousin who is well known as a child star and a brother who is a terrific drummer and has played in numerous bands.
Music runs in our family and it's the ties that binds.
At the end of the sixties, early seventies I was the lead singer in a band and our repertoire consisted of many of the "Stones" numbers as this was one of my favourite bands alas we never achieved stardom [success] due to the fact and I hate to say it "My voice" although distinctly different was not marketable [lol].
The guitar has always been an instrument that fascinated me and kept me interested to play at home for the fun of it. I spent more time looking at it than playing it. [I'm sure if it could talk it would say "Jan pick me up I can't play it by myself"
In my early 50's [can't believe that I'm that old already] I became serious again as to playing it and I bought my 1st electric guitar.
A few years later [now I'm really getting old] I began to play solo (lead) as I was smitten with "The Shadows" virus introduced by a friend Jack Leermakers. Once a week Jack, 2 others and myself would practise at Jack's place in the attic.
The transformation from rhythm guitar to solo wasn't easy as I was used to playing just with my 3 fingers and thumb and not with a plectrum. I simply couldn't get used to it let alone using the tremolo arm.
Later on I took some lessons from Peer van Dun and he taught me how to play with 4 fingers and a pick. Now I can't play without them.
Finally I started using the tremolo but not as it should be as Peter Korving pointed out to me. Thanks to Pete he taught me how to use it correctly.
Pete Korving has been my greatest inspiration when it comes to guitar instrumentals he is considered a world class guitarist one of the best in Europe in our genre of music.
I don't play a lot of Shadow music as there is so much good music to choose from. I prefer the ballads over the up tempo music as I strive to play from the heart as I can do this best with ballads etc to me this is very important.
Every once in a while I record a number that is based on emotional and tragic happenings within our own family. Most of these numbers have been written and sung by my youngest brother Marc.
Marc sings from the heart and because I can't sing I try to convert my feelings my own way with my guitar.
I also run The Friends Of Pete Korving, and take care his backing track productions.
So I hope you know now a little bit more regarding me as a person and the person behind the nickname graceland52.........yes thats right i'm also an Elvis fan.
Hope this site will run in the near future just as good as Jens his radiostation does.
You guys do deserve it.
Regards Jan.
